Example:
A critical vendor (CV) is defined as a vendor who, as a result of non/late payment, could impact Amazon by causing building and office space to be unsafe for use, increasing the risk of reputational damage to Amazon or non-negotiable penalties/fees. CVs include building and locker rentals (e.g., building rent, lease/locker rent, payment to landlords), telecom (e.g., internet, fixed lines), utility expenses (e.g., gas, electric, water, waste) and employee benefit payment (e.g., insurance, health care, meal passes, education reimbursement and relocation charges). The vendors providing these services have been flagged as critical based on the risk and penalty associated with the payment delay for their services offered at Amazon facilities worldwide. In 2022, $25BN was paid to Critical Vendors against 387,425 invoices. Invoice processing is spread across different support teams using tools such as Sequentra, Rivermine, Tango, & Creature, as well as CV Service Centers (SCs) globally, to ensure critical services are not impacted by late payments. The Global Critical Vendor Service Center (CV SC) team under FinOps Corp AP SC operates out of 3 service centers (India, China, and Costa Rica) that ensure on-time and accurate payments for critical vendors.
